I’ll admit, I was not born to love Bruce. My musical tastes lie in the realms of melodically-driven men like Lennon/McCartney, or the always surprising concoctions created by beloved progressive rock bands. Almost all of my favorite artists are Brits. I can’t even think of a US artist I consider an “all-time favorite”. And here is Bruce Springsteen… champion of the working class hero, defender of the flag of freedom, sexy rocker that makes my wife’s pulse race.
I’ve bought the whole Bruce collection on vinyl — like I do — and have slowly developed an appreciation, one song at a time. The first song I totally dug was “Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out” then “Rosalita (Come Out Tonight)” then the live versions of “It’s Hard to be Saint in the City” & Spirit in the Night” “then I found The Wild, the Innocent & the E Street Shuffle.
So, next thing I know I’m buying a cheap ticket and bringing my camera, doing the think I love to do. So here’s the Bruce Springsteen collection I filmed from his Nashville show on April 17, 2014 at the Bridgestone Arena:
