The Dude wants to know… was there a “break-up” song that finally meant something?
I remembering making a break-up mixtape for my ex-girlfriend when I was 17. It kicked off with Howard Jones’ “What is Love” (“What is love anyway? Does anybody love anybody anyway?”).

For me it’s Queensryche’s “I Don’t Believe in Love”. The lyrics hit a home run with me after my ex-girlfriend cheated on me at 13. That and J Geils Band’s Love Stinks.

“This Is How We Do It” – Montell Jordan
My break-up cassette tape that I made for my teenage sweetheart, that broke up with me, had Zeppelin’s “Dazed And Confused” and “How Many More Times”, “Loneliness” and “Mean Mistreater(Live) from Grand Funk Railroad, “Still…You Turn Me On” from ELP, and some other songs I don’t remember at this time.
Songs on the radio that made me think of my unrequited love were: Bread’s “If” and “Baby I’m I Want You”, Blue Swede’s “Hooked On A Feeling”, and Maria Muldaur’s “Midnight at the Oasis”.
“Midnight at the Oasis” reminds me of Waiting For Guffman. lol! “Still…You Turn Me On” — great song!
