I’ll see you on The Dark Side of The Moon! Today’s Daily Vinyl makes me so happy. Come hang-out for 10 minutes and stroll the aisle with a couple tracks from “The Dark Side Of The Moon” (3 tracks including a snipet of the intro). I had to keep it under 10 minutes to meet YouTube requirements. Hopefully you Floyd purists can still enjoy the seque for “Us & Them” into “Eclipse”.
This video utilized the most post-production thus far.
DOVES! What can I say??? I love this band! Almost as much as my own children. All I can say is BRILLIANT!!! One of the most outstanding bands in the last 10 years. I got this 180-gram vinyl record on my birthday (July 7th) from my super-cool Dudette. So I had to find the rustiest place I could find…. the roof of my 1996 Chevy Corsica was the winner.
The two songs featured here are the first 2 singles from their 4th studio album “Kingdom Of Rust”. I had to edit “Winter Hill” a couple minutes to get this video in exactly 10 minutes (a YouTube thing.)
Please buy this record. Heck, buy all Doves records. Their worth every penny.
The most recent Vinyl Video from Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band got me wondering how well YOU know The Beatles trivia. Turns-out, there’s a Beatles Trivia Pursuit game going to be released Aug 10, 2009.
How well would you do at this game?
The Dude also wants to know… What are your 10 favorite BEATLES songs at this moment?
Part 2 of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. This video contains the songs “Getting Better,” “Fixing A Hole,” and “She’s Leaving Home” from the original rare mono pressing.
Wilco’s self-titled new album is great, just released a couple of weeks ago on 180 gram vinyl & CD. (Don’t you just LOVE that vinyl is comin’ back!!!!!)
The table was painted by my lovely wife (The Dudess).
I’m very proud of how well this one turned out. Sadly, YouTube did not allow the audio. (A real bummer since I’m about to release my Vinyl Video for Wilco (The Song).)
I’m currently still trying to get my video editing software to successfully export the video in a different format for hosting on this website. Sorry for the delay. Here’s the teaser on YouTube…
It’s so worth the wait. You know what else is worth it? Owning the record yourself! The new vinyl LP is available from Amazon and includes the CD too. Pretty nifty! Your super-cool local record store should carry it too.
There you are… sitting… marooned on an island. It’s just you…. and Hurley. Before your trip, you only had a few minutes to load up your brand new (fully charged) iPod with 5 albums. (Double albums count as 2… so no fair using “The White Album” as 1 selection!) Huley wants to know… “what’s on your iPod, dude?”
Do you buy new and/or used vinyl? My answer is… yes. (surprised?) In fact I’ll be featuring two brand-spankin’ new records in this weeks vinyl video. I’ll be breaking their seal for your voyeuristic pleasure.
Until it’s up… here’s a link to all their MP3′s on Amazon. Pick ‘n’ choose yer classics or discover some new favorites. I can’t get enough of “Bodhisatva” and “My Old School”.
I loved this piece of bubblegum pop back in the 70′s. Produced by Alan Parsons, who, just a couple years earlier would’ve worked on “Dark Side Of The Moon.” That gives Pilot a bit of street cred in my book.
The video placement was inspired by my daughters chalk drawing of a rainbow. I thought, “woah… that’s magical.” (and of course, by now, everywhere I look I’m thinking “could I put my record player there? and what song would I play?)
And look at what I found on Amazon! I’m totally getting this…
Download 20 Bubblegum-a-licious pop tunes for $8. Including “Magic” — obviously, but also Elton John singing the McCartney penned tuned made famous by Badfinger “Come & Get It” and a bunch of other one-hit-wonders from the late 60′s/early 70′s. Ya know… sometimes The Floyd is too heavy and ya just gotta feel… well…. swell!
Aaahhh yeahhh….. Sit back and relax! It’s time for The Daily Vinyl to take you back to 1967!!!! Simply allow yourself to be mesmerized by that magic black circle, just like the old days. What else are you going to do for the next 10 minutes? Work???? Lame.
Enjoy this original rare mono pressing of The Beatles’ “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” / “With A Little Help From My Friends” / “Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds.”
Keep a watch-out for little fairies.
Preorder the remastered Sgt. Pepper CD
Vinyl Videos #07 & #08 can be found on MORE VINYL VIDEOS. I’m REALLY proud of #08 “Big Log” by Robert Plant, filmed in the passenger seat while driving. Complicated “shoot”. Check it out!
This Vinyl Video was the first one I filmed with “guest stars”. This was so fun to have my beautiful little girls playing with their toys. And be sure and watch the denumont. (that’s fancy talk for “the bit at the end.”)
I’ve been getting a new appreciation for ABBA since I made this video. I’ve really enjoyed this 2CD set. Download all the songs now or pick and choose your favs:
Well, here it is… my birthday… 07/07… and I was excited to post the very first Vinyl Video creation for you all, but re-loading it to YouTube did not work.
It’s viewable from the MORE VINYL VIDEOS page, or you can watch the teaser below.
This was indeed the first Vinyl Video I filmed. The night before, I got this crazy Daily Vinyl website in my head and I decided that, rather than think of all the reason to not to it… I should just figure it out; stick my record player in the “middle of the road” with a long extension cord and a way to mount our little digital camera looking straight down at it. And so I did. I just wonder how many I will have completed by next birthday!
Finally, after a day-long ordeal of trying to get a succesufl upload to YouTube, Vinyl Video #4 is live. The audio is from a rare “Home Demo Version” of “In The Air Tonight.” (You’ll notice an early vocal take and no real drums, especially at the typical air-drummable climax.) This version was released as the b-side to a 12″ record for Phil’s song “If Leaving Me Is Easy” and to my knowledge, is no longer available anywhere. This Vinyl Video was filmed late at night while a wave of nasty storms were about to roll in. The sky was ominous and, although cannot be seen, I think can still be felt. (oh lord!)
Phil Collins’ first solo album “Face Value” was written and recorded when he was simply considered an amazing drummer that had only taken over lead vocals for Genesis a few years earlier. He was not a songwriter nor the pop-star that everyone knows today. If you’ve never heard “Face Value,” it really is incredible and layered with raw emotion, written during his 1st divorce.
Well, Chicago (the band, not the city) I hope you don’t mind this little tribute to such a wonderful song.
I posted the video to the More Vinyl Video page.
Here is the teaser I uploaded to YouTube with no music.
Well, apprently YouTube doesn’t like the band Chicago. After staying up ’til 2AM trying to put the final touches on a silly vinyl video for this weekend, it was removed. I’m going to try to host it here.
I remembering making a break-up mixtape for my ex-girlfriend when I was 17. It kicked off with Howard Jones’ “What is Love” (“What is love anyway? Does anybody love anybody anyway?”).
